In Short
In the middle of the Reeperbahn, where you would normally expect to find clubs with neon signs and streams of tourists, the sidewalk suddenly opens up. Two massive floor panels with the iconic jagged “M” fold open like a futuristic trapdoor. What looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie is the entrance to the Mojo Club in Hamburg — one of the most exciting places in Hamburg’s nightlife. Forty-six steps lead you down into another world, where concrete meets jazz, electronic beats meet design, and intimate concerts meet big club history.
A Club With History – and Attitude
The Mojo Club in Hamburg has long been more than just a venue. It all began in the 90s in an old bowling alley on the corner of Reeperbahn and Zirkusweg. Back then, “uncompromising turntables” was written above the entrance – a motto that still characterizes the program today. Whether jazz, soul, funk, electronic music, or indie – it’s not about the mainstream here, but about quality and atmosphere. The club became the scene’s living room, a place where music fans could meet like-minded people.
Today, the Mojo is an architectural masterpiece beneath the Reeperbahn. Curved staircases, a balcony reminiscent of an opera house, raw concrete walls contrasting with movable wooden slatted doors — everything appears well thought out, yet not contrived.

Live Music to Fall in Love With
We recently attended a concert by British band Tors — three brothers from the UK who conjured up an evening we won’t forget anytime soon with their soulful indie pop and charismatic stage presence. Mojo Club is perfect for acts like this: not too big, not too small, with a stage that allows for intimacy. You feel like you’re right in the middle of it, not just watching.
A Place for Curious Minds: Mojo Club Hamburg
The Mojo Club sees itself as a “playground,” as co-founder Leif Nüske calls it. A place that constantly reinvents itself without forgetting its roots. If you’re not interested in interchangeable club nights, but want to experience a genuine vibe and exciting music, this is the place for you. What’s particularly nice is that even if you’re “just” going to a concert, you feel like you’re part of something special.
