In Short
On the edge of Speicherstadt, right next to Poggenmühlenbrücke — the spot for the ultimate Hamburg postcard motif — there is a charming café tucked away that even many Hamburg residents don’t know about. AMOAHS looks rather inconspicuous from the outside, but inside it surprises with its great atmosphere, fantastic coffee, and a brunch that really won us over.
History Meets Coffee Artistry
AMOAHS is located in one of the old warehouses at Speicherstadt — high ceilings, rustic wood, large windows through which light streams in like in an Instagram dream. You sit in the historic heart of the city and notice one thing above all else: tranquility. No through traffic, no hustle and bustle. Just coffee, cake, and good conversation.
The location is pretty much perfect, by the way: anyone coming from Miniatur Wunderland, visiting the Customs Museum, or simply strolling through the Speicherstadt should definitely stop here for a break. Despite its proximity to Hamburg’s number one photo spot, the Wasserschloss, AMOAHS remains pleasantly relaxed — almost inconspicuously quiet.
Coffee, Cake, and Little Highlights
At AMOAHS, you can get classic coffee specialties such as flat white, espresso, and filter coffee, as well as seasonal drinks such as cold brew and matcha latte. There are also sweet and savory snacks, freshly prepared with an eye for detail. It’s the ideal place for a little break, whether you’re alone with a book, chatting with a friend, or with a larger group. The staff are pleasantly warm and attentive without being intrusive. On the weekends, they have a brunch menu, which is what we tried.

A Relaxed Taste Explosion
Our favorite? Definitely the burrata croissant. The combination of crispy croissant, creamy burrata, and soft-boiled egg instantly puts you in a good mood. Pesto rosso and hollandaise sauce add spice, and the optional bacon takes it to the next level. Shiso cress provides a little burst of freshness.
Speicher Perle offers everything you could possibly want for brunch: savory, sweet, soft, crispy — and a glass of crémant to top it all off. If you can’t decide between a croissant and bread, you can simply have both here. Add butter, compote, pesto, and burrata on a plate — unusual, but a really good combination.
The pancakes are a sweet treat – soft, not too sweet, with a creamy mascarpone layer and a fruity compote that adds freshness. The maple syrup rounds it all off.
So, Would we Recommend AMOAHS?
Yes! AMOAHS is exactly the kind of place you don’t want to tell your friends about — because you want to keep it to yourself. A real hideaway in a prime location, with attention to detail, great food, and a relaxed atmosphere. For anyone who wants to experience Hamburg’s Speicherstadt — a clear recommendation from us.
