In Short
There are some gems in Hamburg’s café scene, but few places inspire us as much as Instinct Coffee at Rentzelstraße 48. This café has earned a permanent place in our hearts (and stomachs) with its all-day brunch concept and attention to detail. Not only does it serve fantastic coffee creations, but also creative breakfast and lunch dishes that taste as good as they look. So it’s no wonder that long queues regularly form outside the door – especially at weekends.
Stylish Ambience that Invites you to Stay
Instinct Coffee is one of those cafés where you immediately feel at home. The mix of industrial elements, warm wood tones and mid-century design gives the space a modern but cozy atmosphere. Large windows provide plenty of light and the lovingly arranged plants add a fresh touch. Whether for a relaxed breakfast alone, a meeting with friends or a small work session with a laptop – this space is ideal for any occasion.
Popular Hotspot – Patience Pays off
We have to be honest: If you come here at the weekend, you’ll need a bit of patience. The café is extremely popular and as there are no reservations, there may well be a wait. But believe us – it’s worth the wait! Our tip: get there early or pop in during the week when things are a little more relaxed.

What’s on the Menu?
Here is a small selection of the delicacies we tried:

- Cappuccino – Perfectly prepared cappuccino (€3.90)
- Cheese Hoch 3 – Sourdough bread with cheddar, gouda, mozzarella and caramelized onions (€13.90)

Taste that Convinces
Let’s talk about the food – because it was super tasty!
The pistachio pancakes are definitely one of our absolute highlights. They are not only a visual masterpiece, but also incredibly delicious: fluffy, creamy and with a perfect balance of sweet and nutty flavors. A must for all pancake lovers!
The Matcha de Coco is also a clear recommendation. The combination of earthy matcha and sweet coconut milk is super refreshing – especially on warmer days.
One small point of criticism: the Cheese Hoch 3 could have used a little more spice or a special kick for our taste. But don’t worry, the menu is constantly evolving and there are other grilled cheese creations that we will definitely try on our next visit.
Conclusion – We Love it!
Instinct Coffee is and remains one of our favorite spots in Hamburg. Whether you just pop in for a quick cappuccino or try the entire brunch menu – there’s something for everyone here. If you’re a fan of stylish cafés with first-class food, you shouldn’t miss this place.
