In Short
This time we visited the charming Patisserie Madeleine in Altona. A small café that entices with its sweet temptations and cozy atmosphere. Despite some ups and downs, we embarked on a culinary journey that we would like to share with you.
Charming Corner with Rustic Flair
Patisserie Madeleine is a small, pretty café in the heart of Altona. It is known for its sweet delicacies and relaxed vibe. When you enter the café, you quickly realize why it is often full – the lovingly designed treats and charming interior immediately cast a spell over you. But watch out: Reservations are advisable, as the seats are in high demand.
Seating & Service
We were lucky enough to find a seat outside. The small beer benches aren’t the most comfortable, but they offer a seat on a quiet street, next to a playground.
Unfortunately, our service experience was not quite as enjoyable. Friendliness and efficiency were in short supply that day. It took ages for our orders to be taken and cleared. We had to go in twice to order something else and pay. Even a smile or a quick tidy up would have made our stay much more pleasant. Perhaps they had a bad day – it’s best to form your own opinion!

Pancakes to Die for
The pancakes were definitely the star of our order. Fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside, with fresh blueberries and sweet maple syrup – a real treat that almost made us forget the long wait. We can highly recommend these pancakes!
A Solid Breakfast Egg
The scrambled eggs with chives and bread were solid and delicious. It wasn’t anything special, but it was well-prepared and tasted exactly as you would expect. The small salad with it added a little freshness.
Raspberry Tart – Visually Appealing, with Room for Improvement in Terms of Taste
The raspberry tart looked tempting, but the taste was not quite convincing. The base was too hard and dry for our taste. We had expected a little more for the price – what a shame!
Drinks with Attention to Detail
The cappuccino was beautifully served and delicious – even if we missed the artistic bear and cat faces as the barista wasn’t there that day. The fresh mint tea and Earl Grey tea were aromatic and rounded off our breakfast perfectly.
Conclusion: A Café with Potential
All in all, Patisserie Madeleine is a sweet café with delicious food and a charming atmosphere. However, the service could be friendlier and more efficient. For us, it was a good visit, but nothing that made a lasting impression on us.
