In Short
A visit to the Elbphilharmonie is always something special, but when Florian Christl fills the small hall with his music, the evening becomes unforgettable. The German composer and pianist, known for his emotional and passionate works, creates an atmosphere with every piece that gets under your skin.
Coziness in the Small Hall
The layout of the Elbphilharmonie is clever: from the balcony/plaza, you can access either the large or the small hall, depending on the event. Particularly practical: there is a bar directly in front of the halls where you can treat yourself to a snack or a drink before the concert or during the interval. Have you ever been to the small hall of the Elbphilharmonie? Compared to the large hall, it feels almost intimate, with its cozy atmosphere and proximity to the stage.
We opted for a pretzel (€3), a snack box with salami, cheese cubes and small rolls (€8) and a glass of Pinot Blanc (0.15 l for €7). Yes, the prices are high, as in any theater or concert hall – but the quality was good and we enjoyed the wine.

An Evening with Florian Christl
The concert started at 7:30 pm, but you can usually get into the foyer an hour beforehand, which is great for soaking up the atmosphere or enjoying the view of the Elbe in peace. We had seats in the 17th row – not right at the front, but with a good view of the stage. If you want to experience the facial expressions and passion of the artists more intensely, it’s worth booking seats further forward.
Speaking of seats: they are quite close together. If you need space or quickly feel uncomfortable, you might want to choose a seat on the aisle.
Florian Christl’s music was simply overwhelming. With each piece, he took us on an emotional journey that is difficult to put into words. The passion with which he plays is absolutely captivating, and the acoustics in the small hall were superb!
