Did you know that Montblanc is a genuine Hamburg company? We actually didn’t. We learned that and quite a bit more during our guided tour of the Montblanc Haus Hamburg. And we can already say this much: the visit really surprised us. Montblanc Haus is not simply a museum; it combines the history of the brand with design, craftsmanship, architecture and gastronomy. Everything feels incredibly elegant and high-quality. Exactly what you would expect from Montblanc.
A Museum that Impresses
Even from the outside, Montblanc Haus is a real eye-catcher. The unusual dark building looks modern and imposing and definitely makes you curious about what is inside. During our guided tour, we learned quite a bit about the history of Montblanc. We were especially fascinated by the connection to Hamburg. We had not really been aware before that a brand known all over the world has its roots right here in the city.
The exhibition is modern and high-quality in its design and offers fascinating insights into the world of Montblanc. There are also temporary and changing exhibitions, so there is always something new to discover. The building also houses a Montblanc Boutique, where you can browse and buy a range of products from the brand.
Bistro 149 by Kitchen Guerilla
After visiting the museum, we headed to Bistro 149 by Kitchen Guerilla and you definitely should not miss it during your visit. The day bar has a really great atmosphere and is a lovely place to have something to eat or enjoy a coffee after the exhibition. Best of all, you can visit the bistro even if you do not have a ticket for the exhibition.
The menu includes drinks, small snacks and pastries, as well as a regularly changing lunch selection. There is also a brunch on Saturdays, and it is a good idea to make a reservation. We had the chance to try the new menu, and our favorite was clear pretty quickly: the Caesar Salad. Absolutely delicious and definitely a reason to visit Montblanc Haus for the food as well.

Coffee with Orange? Definitely try it!
Another surprise for us was the Montblanc Coffee. The combination of coffee, orange and a light, airy foam may sound unusual at first, but it works really well.
Fresh, distinctive and somehow exactly the right drink for a warm summer day. If you enjoy trying unusual coffee creations, the Montblanc Coffee is definitely worth a try. By the way, Bistro 149 is run by Kitchen Guerilla, who also run Table Dot. In our opinion, their creative signature fits the entire Montblanc Haus perfectly.
Practical Tips for Your Visit at Montblanc Haus in Hamburg
- Getting there: Montblanc Haus is easy to reach by bus and train, so getting there by public transport is straightforward.
- Plan a guided tour: We found the guided tour especially interesting because you learn a lot about Montblanc and the company’s history in Hamburg.
- Changing exhibitions: It is worth checking in advance which temporary exhibition is currently on display.
- Leave time for the bistro: After the museum, allow some extra time for Bistro 149. We would come back for the Caesar Salad alone.
- Even without a museum ticket: You can also visit Bistro 149 without visiting the exhibition.
- Saturday brunch: If you would like to come for Saturday brunch, it is best to reserve in advance.
