In Short
Palü is a cozy, family-run restaurant in Hamburg’s Rotherbaum district that takes its guests on a culinary journey to Switzerland. Quality is a top priority here, and the attention to detail can be felt in every dish. Although the service is friendly, it is sometimes a little slow. The prices are high, but if you are prepared to spend a little more, you will be rewarded with authentic Swiss cuisine.
A Little Piece of Switzerland in Hamburg
As soon as you enter the Palü, you feel like you’re in a cozy mountain hut. The lovingly designed interior with warm wood and small details such as Alpine décor creates a homely atmosphere. The restaurant gives you the relaxed coziness of the Swiss mountains, which is perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family.
Service with Room for Improvement
While the service is incredibly friendly, we unfortunately had to be patient during our visit. Some dishes took a little longer to arrive, and a few little things – such as the potatoes, which are actually part of the fondue – were only served on request. Perhaps it was just a stressful evening, but there is definitely room for improvement here.

The Menu: A Treat for Fans of Alpine Cuisine
Here is a small overview of the dishes we tried:
- Palü wooden board: Mixed dried meat and mountain cheese for 2 people (€33)
- Zürcher Geschnetzeltes: Veal with mushrooms and Rösti (€32)
- Palü cheese fondue: Bread cubes, mushrooms, triplets and mixed pickles (€35)
- Toblerone mousse: With cassis sorbet on a white chocolate base (€12)
What Inspired us
The Palü wooden board was an absolute eye-catcher and a delight. The different types of dried meat and the delicious mountain cheese were perfectly matched and make the hearts of lovers of hearty snacks beat faster.
The Zürcher Geschnetzelte is a classic that is masterfully prepared here. The tender veal and creamy sauce harmonized perfectly with the golden-brown Rösti.
The cheese fondue was of course an absolute highlight – exactly what you want on a cold winter’s evening. The cheese was wonderfully aromatic and the side dishes rounded off the dish perfectly, even if we unfortunately had to wait a little while for the potatoes to be served.
The Toblerone mousse was the crowning glory. It was chocolatey, light and a wonderful combination with the fruity cassis sorbet – sweet, but not too heavy.
A Beautiful Evening in Switzerland
Palü is a restaurant that you can definitely consider for a special evening, especially if you love Swiss cuisine. The prices are high, but the quality of the food makes up for it. We think it’s worth a visit – whether for the authentic cheese fondue or the delicious Zürcher Geschnetzelte. A tip: be patient and let yourself be enchanted by the Swiss hospitality.
