In Short
When an entire neighborhood becomes a stage, the aroma of langos and Daner’s beef sandwiches wafts through the streets, and children stand on stage with sparkling eyes, you know it’s time for “Stadtfest Winterhude” (City Festival) again! Between Mühlenkamp and Gertigstraße, Hamburg’s north shows its liveliest side – with culture, cuisine, and a whole lot of heart.
Culture Meets Neighborhood – and Lots of Music
What we particularly like: Stadtfest Winterhude isn’t just any old off-the-shelf event, but truly reflects the character of the neighborhood. Every year, the main stage hosts a varied program—from local bands and choirs to dance groups and international artists. This year, lots of children from the neighborhood took to the stage again. And honestly, it’s just too cute.

Flea Market: Browse, Feast, Play
The city festival extends beyond Gertigstraße and Mühlenkamp — Schinkelstraße and Preystraße are also included, with a large flea market taking place there at the same time. You can spend hours browsing through secondhand treasures, children’s toys, vintage fashion, and books.
The Schinkelplatzfest is particularly worthwhile for families. There is a special children’s program with hands-on activities, games, and craft stands—ideal for a little break from the hustle and bustle. And while the kids are busy, you can relax, grab a drink, and head to the next food stand.
Food Variety with Guaranteed Taste
When it comes to food, Stadtfest Winterhude is a real highlight. Of course, there are the classics: crepes, langos, currywurst, etc. – but our personal insider tip (which is probably not a secret anymore): Daner’s beef sandwiches! Juicy, spicy, simply delicious. If you missed them, don’t worry: you can also find them regularly at the Isemarkt.
In addition to street food from around the world, there are also stands from local cafés and restaurants—perfect for trying something new from the neighborhood. And with a drink in your hand and live music in your ears, even a Sunday suddenly feels like a vacation.
