In Short
Whether summer or winter, StrandPauli is worth a visit all year round. With its unique atmosphere and magnificent view of Hamburg Harbor, this place is an absolute must for anyone who wants to experience Hamburg from its relaxed side. The location has currently been transformed into a winter wonderland. We’ll show you why it’s worth a visit!
Summer at StrandPauli
In summer, StrandPauli is a real beach paradise in the middle of the city. Fine sand, comfortable deck chairs, cool cocktails, and relaxing music invite you to simply unwind. Here you can enjoy the sun, let your gaze wander over the harbor, and experience that special Hamburg feeling. In the evening, fairy lights, candles, and the setting sun create a particularly atmospheric ambiance. Events are held regularly — from live music and small parties to summer movie nights. In summer, StrandPauli is the perfect place to forget everyday life and enjoy life to the fullest.
Winter at StrandPauli – The Winter Wonderland
When temperatures drop, StrandPauli transforms into a magical winter wonderland. The winter season runs from early November to around the end of March and offers a unique winter experience right on the banks of the Elbe. Heated tents, campfires, atmospheric lighting, and cozy blankets create a cozy atmosphere with genuine winter charm.
In winter, hearty winter dishes replace breakfast – from savory classics to vegan specialties. Fondue is particularly popular and is available in different varieties (cheese, meat, fish, or vegan). This is accompanied by winter drinks such as mulled wine, apple punch, or creative cocktails such as the “Hot Aperol” or the “Nutcracker.” The winter market with small stalls, hot snacks, crepes, and kale also creates a real feel-good atmosphere. If you like, you can take part in curling right at the harbor – a highlight for groups or company parties.
In the run-up to Christmas, StrandPauli is usually open from Wednesday to Sunday, and from January onwards slightly shorter hours – from Thursday to Sunday. It is worth taking a look at the weekly preview on the website before your visit, as opening hours may change depending on the weather.
Would you rather discover a historic Christmas market? Be sure to stop by the christmas market at city hall!
Culinary Delights
Whether summer or winter, StrandPauli places great importance on quality and sustainability. Most dishes are vegan, and when meat is served, it comes from organic farms.
We tried our way through the small stalls at Winter Wonderland. There were cheese spaetzle (€7.80), vegan sausages with kale and potatoes (€7.80), and Kaiserschmarrn (€6.90). We also tried the mulled wine (€5) and hot chocolate (€4.60). All in all, it was okay. We liked the cheese spaetzle and mulled wine best, even though the mulled wine was quite strong. The rest of the food was okay, but unfortunately not particularly special.
