In Short
Hidden away in the quiet streets between Hasselbrook and Hamm-Nord is Café Meesa – a charming café with a spacious outdoor area and an inviting atmosphere. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy delicious food and drinks in relaxed surroundings.
A Green Paradise in the Middle of the City
Café Meesa impresses with a large outdoor area surrounded by tall trees. The sun’s rays falling through the terrace create a pleasant play of light and invite you to relax and unwind.
Service With Potential
During our visit, we noticed that the service in the outdoor area could be improved. The waiters seemed a little overwhelmed, which led to longer waiting times. As we waited quite a long time outside, we decided to order inside. We were greeted warmly by the barista, who made up for the previous impression with his courteous manner, but our food still didn’t arrive for about 40 minutes. But it was worth the wait.
Our Selection
- Iced Matcha Latte with oat milk – € 5
- Latte Macchiato – € 3.90
- Avocado sandwich with extra scrambled eggs (mashed avocado, sesame mix, arugula, pomegranate, chili threads/oil) – € 10, 90 + € 3
- Cheese Sando (farmhouse cheese, beef ham and homemade paprika and walnut cream) – € 10.90
- Loaded banana bread (banana bread, banana, cocoa nibs and almond butter) – € 5.50
How Did we Like it?
The avocado sandwich was delicious! Creamy avocado together with a nutty sesame mix and a slight spicy kick from the chili threads. The pomegranate seeds provided a fruity note, while the additional scrambled eggs added the finishing touch.
The Cheese Sando impressed with a good combination of tangy farmhouse cheese and tender beef ham. The homemade paprika and walnut cream also went perfectly with it and rounded off the taste.
However, the highlight of our visit was the Loaded Banana Bread. The moist texture of the banana bread, combined with the sweetness of the fresh banana slices and the crunch of the cocoa nibs – really good. The creamy almond butter was the icing on the cake.
Conclusion: Well Worth a Visit
Despite minor weaknesses in the service, Café Meesa impressed us with its idyllic atmosphere. The prices are in line with the Hamburg average and are reasonable considering the quality of the food. Due to its somewhat hidden location outside the city center, there is a good chance of spontaneously grabbing a seat, even at weekends. We will certainly be back for the excellent banana bread, the refreshing matcha and the inviting sun terrace.
