In Short
A very special dining experience! Le Petit Chef is finally available in Hamburg and has absolutely won us over. The smallest chef in the world is 3D animated and cooks a delicious meal straight onto your plate. He has a few adventures along the way and is sometimes a little clumsy. The show is not only super cute and entertaining, the food also tasted really delicious. We can only warmly recommend Le Petit Chef at the Grand Elysée in Hamburg!
A Real Experience with Probably the Smallest Chef in the World
Le Petit Chef has finally arrived in Hamburg! Since November, the 6 cm small man has been cooking a delicious menu for his visitors. At the Grand Elysée Hotel, you can be enchanted by a unique dining experience.
You don’t know Le Petit Chef? Then let’s change that!
Born in Belgium, the world’s smallest chef performs in many German cities and around the world. It is a 3D experience of a special kind. You sit at a table, on which your plate is placed in such a way that the little chef knows exactly where to go. This is done using a technology called 3D projection mapping. Each course of the 5-course meal is preceded by a short show in which you can see how the chef prepares the dishes. He is also quite clumsy at times. We thought it was super cute and definitely entertaining. The little man climbs from the table onto the plate during the show and has a few adventures along the way. This can be a real highlight, especially for kids!

No matter which menu you choose, the projection on the table is the same for everyone. You can always see how the dishes on the Classic menu are prepared. Let’s take a look at the individual courses. Don’t worry, we won’t go into too much detail here, because if you want to go to Le Petit Chef in Hamburg, it should still be a little surprise or something new!
First Course: The Starter from the Vegetable Patch
This course was the same for all menus. Le Petit Chef works on the dish in the garden. He has uninvited company, which doesn’t exactly help him. Burratina, rocket, radishes and tomatoes are placed on the plate.
A few seconds after the intro, the food was already in front of us and I thought it was really delicious. The starter had a little pesto on top, which rounded off the dish perfectly. So, a great start!
Second Course: Soup from the Sea
For the second course, we went into the sea. The little man catches various sea creatures for us in order to refine the soup more and more. But here, too, he encounters small and rather large problems.
For the classic menu, the soup came as prepared by Le Petit Chef. Refined with mussels, cod, zander and herbs. It was super aromatic and really tasty. For the vegetarian menu, there was a delicious vegetable soup, which also really impressed me. The ingredients in both dishes were perfectly balanced.
Third Course: A Course from the Deep Sea
For his next adventure, he went even further down the water. On the table, we suddenly saw a beautiful underwater landscape with corals and colorful fish swimming past our plates. At the same time, the little chef prepared the next dish.
For the classic menu, we had a lobster bisque on carrot and celery mash. The shrimp on top was perfectly cooked, and the mash went really well with it. The mash was also served with the vegetarian menu. The lobster was replaced by grilled artichoke. The vegetable was very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. There was a purple-colored sauce that perfectly combined the artichoke and the mash.
Fourth Course: Back on Land
We continued with the 4th course, for which we arrived back on land. This time, the plate was transformed into a grill, on which the chef seared a piece of meat and vegetables. Here too, of course, he encountered one or two obstacles.
The fillet that was brought to the table was still pink on the inside and therefore perfectly cooked for us. I thought it actually had a slight fishy taste. Perhaps it was cooked on the same grill as the fish. Still really tasty. Both menus had vegetables on the side in the form of potatoes, carrots and broccoli. The vegetarian menu had Jerusalem artichokes instead of meat. The consistency took a little getting used to, but it harmonized well with the other components.
Fifth course: Dessert – the Perfect way to Round off the Evening
Last but not least, the little chef made a real effort once again. Using the finest ingredients and super beautiful animations, he conjured up a heavenly crème brûlée with raspberries and a small dollop of chocolate ice cream. The dish was the same for both menus and tasted incredibly delicious. It wasn’t too sweet, and the consistency was creamy and light. The fresh touch of the raspberries and the coldness of the chocolate ice cream also gave the dish something very special.
Extra: Birthday Special
For all birthday kids, there is an extra clip in which you can see how the little man prepares a muffin. Super cute! The muffin is then also brought to the birthday table.
Our Conclusion on Le Petit Chef
We think it is a unique experience that is well worth the money. The entertainment is great, the service team is incredibly friendly, and you feel at ease. The lighting on the tables creates a lovely atmosphere that makes you enjoy your meal even more.
