Urban Charm in the Karoviertel District
Ouf Deli & Bakery is located in the creative heart of the Karoviertel district and fits perfectly into the neighborhood. Large windows that can be opened completely create a wonderfully relaxed indoor-outdoor feeling in summer. Inside, clean, modern design meets warm details, bright, friendly, and furnished with great attention to detail.
You notice immediately that this is a place where you want to stay longer. Whether it’s a quick lunch, coffee break, or a leisurely brunch with friends, the setting is perfect. During our visit, the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
Deli Vibes with a Creative Touch
The menu is concise but exciting. The focus is on filled brioches and focaccia sandwiches, accompanied by sweet treats from the bakery. There are also vegan options and tuna variations, so there’s something for everyone here.
What we tried:
- Stracciatella: with homemade focaccia, cashew pesto, stracciatella, mortadella, arugula, caramelized hazelnuts, and lemon oil – €9.50
- Birria: with brioche, pulled beef, cheese, pickled onions, cilantro, birria consomé – €10.50
- Mushroom: with brioche, mushrooms, cheese, and caramelized onions – €9.50
- Basque cheesecake with chocolate sauce – €5.70
- To accompany your meal: tea from Charitea, matcha, and chai latte

Sweet Brioche, Savory Filling
Let’s start with the brioches: they are nice and soft, slightly buttery, and have a distinct sweetness. On their own, they are almost like a small dessert, but in combination with the savory toppings, they work surprisingly well.
The birria version was juicy, intense, and really flavorful. The tender pulled beef, melted cheese, and tangy onions perfectly complemented the sweetness of the brioche bun. Add to that the spicy broth for dipping, messy, but awesome.
The mushroom sandwich was also impressive: earthy mushrooms, melted cheese, and sweet braised onions combine to create a well-rounded, flavorful mixture. The slight sweetness of the brioche balanced the whole thing out nicely.
The stracciatella on focaccia was a little lighter, but no less exciting. Creamy cheese, nutty notes from the pesto and caramelized hazelnuts, plus a fresh kick from the lemon oil, beautifully balanced and visually appealing too.
Cheesecake Love and Solid Drinks at Ouf Deli & Bakery
And then there was the Basque cheesecake. Dark on the outside, super creamy on the inside, almost pudding-like at the center. Together with the chocolate sauce, it was a dessert we would order again without hesitation.
The drinks were also impressive. The matcha was pleasantly strong, the chai latte was nicely spicy and not too sweet, and the Charitea tea was a good, honest accompaniment to the meal.
Perfect for Lunch and Cake Breaks in Hamburg
Ouf Deli & Bakery is a wonderful addition to Hamburg’s café scene, especially in the Karoviertel district. Creative sandwiches, a well-thought-out concept, friendly service, and a cheesecake that will stay with you forever.
