If you’re craving authentic Indian cuisine in Hamburg, there’s no way around SVAAdish. With locations in Winterhude and Hoheluft – and more already in the pipeline – SVAAdish has established itself as one of the high-quality Indian cuisines in the Hanseatic city. Our visit to the Winterhude branch was not just a meal, but a journey through the diverse flavors of India.
The Ambience: Modern Meets Traditional
As soon as you enter SVAAdish, it is clear that traditional Indian elements merge with modern design. Golden accents set shining highlights in the light-flooded rooms, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Culinary Highlights: From Starters to Main Courses
The menu offers a huge selection, so every lover of Indian cuisine will find something here! We started with Assorted Papadams (3.90 €), a crispy lentil snack accompanied by a fruity mango chutney, and Dahi Bhalla Chaat (6.20 €), lentil dumplings in sweet yoghurt, which were perfect as a starter with their combination of tamarind and fresh coriander.
The main courses were also great: the chicken tikka (16.90 €), spicy marinated and perfectly grilled in the tandoori oven, was a treat in itself. The curries, korma (10.80 €) and palak (10.80 €) – both with their own distinctive blend of spices – demonstrated the versatility of Indian cuisine. The dal makhani (14.50 €), a creamy creation of black lentils with a curry of tomatoes, ginger and onions, tasted super interesting.
Although each dish was convincing in its own way, the palak was my personal favorite. The spicy spinach curry sauce was not only nicely seasoned, but also perfectly balanced in its entirety.
Not forgetting the Vada Pav (12.90 €), an Indian “burger” that offered an interesting change of pace with its potato patty in chickpea breading.
To round off our delicious lunch, we had a Lillet Berry and a classic, creamy mango lassi. We also had an espresso martini.

Whether for a quick lunch menu or an extended dinner, the Indian restaurant has something to offer for all occasions.
