In Short
Want a weekend highlight?! TOKIYO Sandwiches only opens its doors on Saturdays and Sundays, but that’s what makes a visit even more appealing. A little hidden, no intrusive sign – you have to know it’s there. And once you’ve found it, you’ll definitely be back. Because it’s not just fantastic food that awaits you here, but also an atmosphere that is somehow cozy despite the simple decor.
A Mix of Indulgence and Dog Love at TOKIYO Sandwiches
Admittedly, the interior doesn’t knock your socks off – that’s because the location is shared with other companies. But what it lacks, the team makes up for in hospitality. Even the welcome is warm and, as a bonus, there is a small, fluffy dog called Mochi running around, who puts a smile on everyone’s face. You can also order the sandwiches to go if you prefer to enjoy them comfortably on a park bench.
Tip: Water and tea are included free of charge, and you can use the sauce station with various toppings and even vanilla syrup. No wish is left unfulfilled!

A Taste Experience in a Class of its Own
Every sandwich at TOKIYO Sandwiches is freshly prepared, and you can taste it in every bite. Our absolute highlight was the Ume Miso Chicken sandwich. The juicy chicken katsu combined with the creamy mayo and this ingenious umeboshi tonkatsu sauce – simply perfect! The crunchy cabbage provides the necessary freshness kick, and the fluffy Shokupan milk bread is the crowning glory. No comparison to ordinary toast – the homemade bread gives the whole thing a completely new twist.
The Wagyu Burger Katsu was also a real winner: crispy breadcrumbs on the outside, juicy and aromatic on the inside, with a wonderfully spicy yuzu-ponzu-teriyaki note. The combination of umami and freshness was simply spot-on. If you prefer vegetarian and light, you should choose the Tamagi Edamame Yuzu. The freshness of the edamame and shiso harmonized perfectly with the Japanese egg salad and the creamy ramen egg.
For dessert, we had the Croffle Matcha Pistachio – a real highlight! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, not too sweet and with a light matcha flavor that harmonizes perfectly with the pistachio topping. Served with the hot matcha latte, which was really creamy with oat milk.
Conclusion: It’s Worth a Visit!
Anyone looking forward to fresh, creative and handmade sandwiches should put TOKIYO Sandwiches at the top of your to-eat list. Sure, the food sometimes takes a little longer – but good things take time. The quality and taste speak for themselves. We immediately grabbed a stamp card and are certain that this was definitely not our last visit!
