In Short
A relaxing afternoon in the atrium of the Hotel Atlantic almost feels like a little escape from the rest of Hamburg. When the weather is good, the courtyard is at its most beautiful. White columns, the large fountain in the center and the elegant architecture create an atmosphere that almost feels like a mini vacation. Add drinks, delicate pastries from the hotel’s own patisserie and very friendly service.
A Little Escape in the Courtyard
For us, the Hotel Atlantic Atrium is definitely one of the most beautiful courtyards in the city. Especially when the sun shines, the place really comes into its own. Tucked away from the bustle of Hamburg, you can listen to the sound of the fountain and spend a few hours simply switching off. The Atrium is only open in when the weather is good, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.. If you arrive before noon, drinks and pastries are already available, although proper food is only served from midday.
What we Tried
- Matcha Latte with oat milk – €13
- Atlantic tea blend Masala Chai – €11
- Raspberry Lemonade with raspberries, basil, lemon juice, sugar syrup and Spicy Ginger – €13
- Lavabelle Spritz – €14
- Peach and almond pastry – €9
- Raspberry and calamansi pastry – €9
- Atlantic chocolate pastry – €9
The Pastries are the Stars
Our highlight: the patisserie. The pastries not only look beautiful, they taste just as good. We especially loved the Atlantic chocolate pastry and the raspberry and calamansi pastry. The chocolate pastry was intense and wonderfully chocolatey, while raspberry and calamansi added a fruity, slightly tart note. The peach and almond pastry was also delicious and perfect for a summer afternoon in the Atrium.

Drinks with Room for Improvement
We had mixed feelings about the drinks. The Matcha Latte with oat milk didn’t win us over, especially when costing €13. The Raspberry Lemonade was also a little too sweet for our taste, even though the combination of raspberry, basil, lemon and ginger sounds really interesting. The Masala Chai and the Lavabelle Spritz, on the other hand, were very good. The chai in particular really impressed us.
Special, but Definitely Pricey
Of course, the Hotel Atlantic Atrium is not a budget spot for coffee and cake. €9 for a pastry and prices above €10 for many drinks are certainly high. At the same time, you are sitting in a luxury hotel and in return get a truly exceptional setting.
Overall, for us, it was a very special afternoon. Especially in the sunshine, the Atrium is beautiful, and the combination of a peaceful courtyard, fine patisserie and attentive service makes the visit something special. For a little moment of luxury in the heart of Hamburg, it is definitely a place worth remembering.
