Ti Breizh is amazing and most likely the best restaurant for French crêpes in Hamburg. Authentic French food prepared exactly the way you want it. Savory, sweet, vegetarian or vegan – everyone can find the crêpe of their liking. We tried both, savory galettes and sweet crêpe and can only say that we are amazed by the quality of the food and the lovely preparation. By the way, if you want to enjoy the view of the famous Nikolai Church, the Speicherstadt and the Elbphilharmonie, at Ti Breizh you can sit on a floating platform, enjoying the flat delicacies and appreciate the sight.
Authentic French Cuisine in the Heart of Hamburg
There is no need to go all the way to France when you can go to Ti Breizh! This French eatery is located in one of the most charming homes in Hamburg. Although the building is narrow, the white and blue accents, historic neighborhood, and lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the harbor will make you feel as though you have been transported to Bretagne. The alfresco dining platform moves with the tides, where you can enjoy incredible views of the iconic Nikolai Church, the Speicherstadt and the Elbphilharmonie.
This eatery has an open kitchen concept, so from certain tables, you can see the chef preparing the crêpes and other authentic French delicacies. While the interior is cozy, there are several seating options available. As the French waiter showed us to our table, we could hear lovely background music and groups of friends speaking French, only adding to the authentic atmosphere.

Savory Galettes and Sweet Crêpes?
Between savory galettes and sweet crêpes in many variations, the menu is outstanding. The so-called “galettes” are made of buckwheat, giving them an earthy yet flavorful taste. Unlike the crêpes, the galettes are folded only on the sides so that you can see the ingredients in the center.
Moreover, the crêpes at Ti Breizh are nothing like the ones you know from some festivals or carnivals, often prepared quickly with pre-made dough and no love at all. Instead, the opposite is true for Ti Breizh. In fact, many of the ingredients are shipped from Bretagne or France, since they are not available in Germany. However, the team uses regional products wherever possible. This restaurant also offers many vegetarian and vegan options – so no one has to miss out on this incredible cuisine.
Ti Breizh boasts excellent service; the staff was friendly and helpful during our experience. When the restaurant is busy, it might take longer to get your food, but it is certainly worth the wait. While the galettes and crêpes can be made-to-order, we chose:
- Jambon, fromage et champignons à la crème: Galette with french Emmental cheese, cooked ham and cream mushrooms (8.10€)
- Complète: Galette with cooked ham, fried egg and french Emmental cheese (8.10€)
The galettes were hot and crispy, almost like the thinnest and crispiest pizza ever. We could taste the freshness of the ingredients with every bite.
Sweet Ending
Since we were starving that day, we decided to finish off our lunch with a sweet crêpes. We ordered:
- Belle Hélène: Crêpe with pear, dark chocolate, roasted almonds and vanilla ice cream (7.50€)
- Banane & Chocolate: Crêpe with banana and home-made dark chocolate sauce (5.70€)
These crêpes came hot as well, and it was clear that they were made with love, as the plating made them almost too cute to eat. Since the crêpes and galettes are not perfectly round or symmetrical, it is evident that they are handmade, which gives them an even more authentic look.
Would we Recommend it?
Definitely yes! This restaurant has something for everyone – sweet, savory, vegetarian, or vegan. Even if the weather is rainy and you cannot sit outside on the lovely floating terrace, you can still enjoy a warm tea or coffee inside this cozy French café.
