In Short
MiMi’s Crêpes transports its guests into a world where Japanese cuisine meets traditional crêpes, right in the heart of Hamburg. With the modest size of the store and with two locations – one at Große Bleichen 35, the other in Grindelallee – MiMi’s has established itself as a cornerstone for exceptional desserts.
A small but wonderful experience
MiMi’s Crêpes may be the smallest crêpe store in town, but what it saves in space, it invests in taste. With only around five seats, this café offers a particularly personal experience, which is further enhanced by the open kitchen. Here you can watch the chef prepare the crêpes the Japanese way – carefully folded, rolled and served in paper waffle molds.
A Menu Full of Surprises
Unlike the traditional French crêpes you might expect, MiMi’s offers an exquisite selection of Japanese-inspired variations. From classic fillings such as Nutella or bananas to unusual creations such as okonomiyaki crêpes and rice burgers – you will get explosions of flavor that you won’t find twice in Hamburg. A little tip: the savory options are only available from Monday to Friday. It’s also not so easy to find out in which branch you can get which dishes, as they vary. Unfortunately, you won’t find a menu in advance to see the selection of delicacies, either.
To make it easier to decide in the café, MiMi’s offers plastic replicas of some dishes. An ideal solution to get an idea of the culinary works of art that await you.

A Taste Experience that will be Remembered
On this day, we decided for:
- Okonomiyaki Style Crêpes – Street Sensation: A perfect example of the fusion of Japanese tradition and the versatility of crêpes. A real highlight with egg, spring onions, white cabbage, ginger, okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes and dried seaweed (€11)
- Chocolate Paradise: A sweet temptation with fresh fruit, Oreo, cream and plenty of chocolate sauce – a must for all chocolate lovers (€10)
- Crème brûlée Fire: A firework of flavors (€12)
- Matching: Sencha tea (€4.50) and matcha latte with cream and chocolate sauce (€6.50)
The crêpes are not only a visual highlight, but also impress with their fresh ingredients and careful preparation. The only drawback is that the paper wrapping can stick to the crêpes a little, making them difficult to eat.
For me personally, the ginger didn’t really fit in our okonomiyaki crêpe, but I know there are many people who like it. Even though the crêpes were well filled, we thought it was great that there wasn’t too much. That way, they fill you up and aren’t too heavy on the stomach at the same time.
Should you Visit?
At MiMi’s Crêpes, you can get sweet and savory treats. Personally, I was particularly impressed by the sweet range. We highly recommend it if you fancy a snack between meals.
