In Short
Today we’re taking you to an exciting place in Hamburg that is located near the main train station and impressed us with its trendy vibes and extraordinary desserts: Pankai. A bubble tea store in Hamburg where Asian bubble tea culture and creative desserts merge into an experience you won’t soon forget.
A Place to Discover and Enjoy
Pankai scores with a super cool design. The main character, a cute panda, runs through the entire interior and creates a cheerful, playful atmosphere. Although the café is really beautifully furnished, it is not a place where you can linger for hours – but perhaps that is not what the café wants to be. It’s more about dipping in for a moment, enjoying and moving on.
Our Orders at a Glance:
- The Almighty (Dalgona Coffee Brown Sugar)
Dalgona Coffee, fresh milk, brown sugar, tapioca (€6) - The Exotic (Blue Parrot)
Butterfly Pea Tea, mango, lime, mint, cane sugar, soda (€5.50) - Oreo Sticky Rice
Black sticky rice with yoghurt, Oreo crumble (with tapioca pearls + €0.50) (€6) - Spongeboba
Japanese fluffy sponge cake with brown sugar tapioca pearls and sweetened condensed milk, served with two scoops of coconut ice cream (€6.50)
The drinks can be ordered without added sugar – a plus point for anyone who likes it less sweet. The prices are perfectly reasonable and absolutely within the normal range for bubble tea.

A Culinary Adventure
The drinks and desserts not only look fantastic, they also taste great. The Dalgona Coffee in “The Almighty” offers a delicious combination of sweet caramel and tasty coffee. Perfectly balanced with fresh milk and delicate tapioca pearls, this drink is a real treat.
“The Exotic” brings a refreshing note with its blend of butterfly pea tea, mango and lime. The mint and sparkling soda make it particularly lively and perfect for a hot summer’s day.
The highlight of the desserts was definitely the “Spongeboba”. The Japanese sponge cake was light and airy, and the brown sugar tapioca pearls added an interesting chewy texture. The two scoops of coconut ice cream complemented the dessert perfectly.
We also loved the “Oreo Sticky Rice”. The black sticky rice with yoghurt and Oreo crumbles offered a harmonious mix of different textures. The yoghurt made the dessert lighter and more refreshing.
Service & Ambience
The service at Pankai is super nice, even though it’s self-service. The personalized bubble tea cups that have your name on them are a sweet extra that makes the visit even more special. The café is spread over two floors, although we found the top floor particularly cozy.
Verdict
Pankai is often relatively full, which shows how popular it is. With 12 highlight drinks and the option to make your own bubble tea, there is something for everyone. We can highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back.
