Surrounded by vintage furniture, thoughtful details, and homemade baked goods, it creates an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Add to that creative breakfast dishes, an impressive selection of teas, and an in-house bakery that not only crafts cakes and cinnamon rolls but even creates custom wedding cakes.

As soon as you step inside, it becomes clear: this isn’t about perfectly curated Instagram minimalism. Instead, Malina Stories Café feels more like a cozy living room from another era. Everywhere you look, there are little details to discover — vintage furniture, carefully chosen decorations, and charming retro elements that give the café its unique character.
We immediately felt at home. Every corner seems to tell its own little story, and that’s exactly what makes this place so special. Rather than feeling sterile or overly polished, everything feels warm, inviting, and authentic.
A Sunny Spot to Feel at Home
On sunny days, it’s also worth grabbing a seat on the café’s terrace. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or simply watch the bustle of Barmbek while sipping a refreshing lemonade. Especially on warm days, the terrace creates a genuine holiday-like atmosphere right in the heart of Hamburg.
More Than Just a Café
There’s much more to Malina Stories Café than just being a traditional breakfast spot. The concept also includes its own bakery just a few steps away. Every day, homemade cakes, cinnamon rolls, and intricately designed celebration cakes are crafted there for special occasions.
One particularly exciting feature is the opportunity to order custom-made wedding cakes. The café also regularly hosts Afternoon Tea and Cream Tea experiences. With freshly baked scones, fine teas, and a selection of sweet treats, we can hardly imagine a cozier way to spend a rainy autumn afternoon.

Breakfast That Stays with You
We were especially impressed by the Quarkies. Homemade quark pancakes like these are not something you come across every day. Lightly golden on the outside, wonderfully fluffy on the inside, and paired with the fruity raspberry compote, they create a combination that works beautifully and stands out from the usual breakfast classics.
The granola was equally impressive. Perfectly crunchy, pleasantly fresh, and combined with yogurt and fruit compote, it made for a light yet satisfying choice. The raspberry compote, in particular, seemed to be a recurring theme throughout several dishes — and it was excellent every single time.
The sweet French toast delivered just the right balance of sweetness and fruitiness. If you prefer a savory start to the day, the Benedict Toast is an excellent choice. The poached eggs, creamy hollandaise sauce, and tomato pesto complemented each other perfectly.
We were equally pleased with the drinks. The homemade ginger lemon lemonade was wonderfully refreshing and paired perfectly with breakfast. The only disappointment was that the raspberry lemonade we had originally ordered was already sold out that day.
Would we Come Back?
Yes! Malina Stories Café is one of those places you don’t visit just for the food. It’s the unique atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the feeling of escaping everyday life for a few hours that make it so memorable. The combination of vintage charm, homemade baked goods, and creative breakfast dishes turns every visit into a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
