In Short
If you really want to experience Hamburg, then a tour by boat on the Alster and the many canals is a must. There are numerous boat rentals that provide you with a variety of water vehicles. Whether pedal boat, canoe or stand-up paddle board – there is something for everyone. In this article, we introduce you to our favorite boat rental in Hamburg and give you tips for your next water excursion.
Our Favorite: Dornheim Boat Rental – The Perfect Starting Point for Water Adventures
We started at Dornheim boat rental in Winterhude and were absolutely thrilled. Located on the picturesque Osterbek Canal, this rental shop offers over 180 boats to choose from – from kayaks and classic canoes to pedal boats and even Venetian gondolas. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Once you have chosen your boat, you simply leave your ID there and can ride for as long as you like. Only after you return the boat do you pay for the time you have used it.
Practial Tips:

An absolute highlight of our tour was our stop at Café Canale on the Mühlenkamp Canal. You can drive right up to the café and have coffee and cake served to you through a small window – it’s great! You can find out more in our blog post about Café Canale.
