In Short
One cozy evening, we decided to visit “Heimatjuwel”, a restaurant that was highly recommended to us by friends. And we can pass this recommendation on to you after our visit! The restaurant offers well-thought-out menus in a great atmosphere that invites you to linger.
The Atmosphere: Warm and Welcoming
From the moment we entered the Heimatjuwel, we felt welcome. The beautiful interior and the super friendly staff created a great atmosphere. The menu card, presented in a roll, triggered a positively surprised look on every guest’s face – a sweet idea that aroused curiosity.
The Menu: Great Coordination of the Dishes
There is no à la carte menu at Heimatjuwel, instead a carefully composed and harmonious menu is offered. The option to choose a wine accompaniment rounded off the culinary experience. It has to be said, however, that the menu options with all their choices are not so easy to understand. As you can order 3, 4 and 5 courses, it makes the whole thing a little complicated. However, the waiters will be happy to help you!

The Beginning: Snacks from the Vegetable Garden
Before we turned our attention to the actual menu, we were served snacks from the Wilkenshoff vegetable garden. Celery, sauerkraut with a surprising consistency and Brussels sprouts set the mood for what was to come.
1st Course: Savoy Cabbage, Parsley, Pommes Soufflées
A light yet tasty start. The combination of savoy cabbage and parsley, complemented by the fluffy chips soufflées, was a successful start. A super interesting taste and neither too little nor too much for us as a first course.
2nd Course: Celery “Waldorf style” with Lovage
A creative interpretation of the classic Waldorf salad, in which the celery takes on a completely new role, finely seasoned with lovage.
3rd Course: A Decision Between Vegetarian and Meat
Vegetarian: red cabbage, jalapeño, spelt. A combination that went perfectly together with its spiciness and yet soft red cabbage. This was one of my favorite courses, as the sauce rounded off the red cabbage so perfectly.
Meat: Holstein beef, broccoli, Dürüm. The beef was nicely prepared, tender and full of flavor, a real treat for meat lovers. Only the Dürüm was not quite our cup of tea, it seemed almost a little over-seasoned.
4th Course: The Choice Between Sweet and Savory
Sweet: beet, quince, buckwheat. A dessert that impressed with its earthy and sweet nuances. As we are not big beet fans, this was not our favorite, but the combination of beet and quince was very interesting and surprisingly good.
Hearty: Oven cheese, potato, brioche. For those who prefer hearty, a dream of a cheese course. This savory dessert definitely won us over. The cheese was super creamy and deliciously seasoned, and the little brioche was wonderful.
The Finale: Sweet Treats
After the main courses came a small bowl with a cream and white chocolate foam – very interesting taste, not 100% our cup of tea this time. Afterward, however, we were spoiled with “sweet treats”: hazelnut praline, chocolate tart and an éclair with popcorn. Each a little highlight in itself, which rounded off the evening perfectly.
Conclusion: A Worthwhile Experience
Our visit to Heimatjuwel was an experience that we will remember for a long time to come. The loving preparation of the food, the cozy atmosphere and the courteous staff made our evening something very special. Even if it is not necessarily suitable for every taste or age group, we found the creativity and quality of the dishes remarkable. Heimatjuwel is definitely worth a recommendation, especially for those who want to embark on a culinary journey of discovery. Remember to bring time to enjoy this journey to the fullest.
