In Short
In the heart of chic HafenCity, there is a place that is completely dedicated to one fruit: the avocado. Whether on toast, in a bowl, or even as a burger bun, this green gold takes center stage here. We couldn’t resist stopping by The Avocado Show Hamburg, where we enjoyed not only fancy food but also a great atmosphere.
Sparkling Lights & Insta Backdrop
Even when just passing by, you pause for a moment: colorful lights shine through the huge glass fronts, and inside you can see stylish plant walls, chic high tables, and cozy benches. Every corner is a small stage set — made for the perfect snapshot. The interior is a mix of urban jungle, industrial design, and pop art — the whole thing calls for a leisurely brunch with friends or a late lunch with a view of HafenCity.
Whether you sit at the high tables with a view of the neighborhood or retreat to the bench by the plant wall, the concept is clear: dining in style. You immediately notice that every detail here is designed to be social media-friendly.
Avocado all Over – the Concept
What began in Amsterdam is now bringing this green superfood to Hamburg. It’s not just about pretty pictures, but also creative ideas: avocados appear here in all kinds of forms — pure, puréed, fried, grilled, or as ice cream. All this is paired with a deliberately stylish look and a menu that offers everything from brunch to dinner.
Nearby, you will find Yakido, an all-you-can-eat running BBQ — it’s worth a visit!
Our Highlights on the Plate
We had a colorful mix of sweet, savory, and quite unusual flavors — here is our selection:

- Salamango – Salmon poke bowl with mango, edamame, wakame, and furikake on sushi rice – €16.90
- Bun Burger – Burger with avocado halves instead of a bun, beef, bacon, lettuce, and tomato, served with nachos – €16.90

From the Plate: Impression & Taste
Visually, the dishes are really beautiful! The bun burger in particular appealed to us right away — not only because of the idea of an avocado bun, but also because it delivered in terms of taste. Of course, you can’t just eat something like this with your hands, and anyone who can only handle avocado in small doses might quickly find themselves overwhelmed. But in combination with the juicy patty, bacon, and sauce, it worked for us. A grilled onion would have rounded off the whole thing nicely, but hey — you can’t have everything.
The Salamango Bowl was visually like a small work of art. The combination of fresh salmon, sweet mango, and creamy mayo was spot on. All the ingredients tasted fresh, and the textures harmonized well — it was definitely a strong performance.
We were less impressed by the Sweet Stack. The pancakes themselves were fluffy, but the avocado ice cream was a bit of an oddity – especially in terms of taste, and not really to our liking. However, we can imagine that fans of unusual creations would get their money’s worth here.
The drinks were okay across the board. The Avo Berry Smoothie was fruity and fresh, but the iced teas didn’t have much flavor at first because the sugar had settled completely at the bottom – we weren’t entirely convinced.
Service & Mood
The service was friendly and attentive, even if it took a little while at times. But that somehow fits in with the relaxed atmosphere — you’re happy to sit a little longer, watch the hustle and bustle outside, and enjoy the stylish surroundings. When it’s busy, it can get a little hectic inside, but overall the atmosphere was relaxed and easygoing.
Conclusion: Stylish, but not a Must-Have
The Avocado Show Hamburg is a cool spot for anyone who fancies creative avocado dishes and stylish presentation. If you’re looking for a special dining experience in HafenCity, you’ll definitely find it here. We found the food to be solid, with individual highlights such as the bun burger and the salamango bowl. Not everything completely won us over, but the concept is well-rounded and the restaurant offers a nice change from the standard fare. Not a permanent recommendation, but a place worth checking out.
