In Short
Two Alphas Restaurant opened its doors in Hamburg in February 2026 — and we’ll say it straight up: it’s fantastic! Marie and Tobi, the two brains behind the concept, are anything but newbies. With experience from a previously successful restaurant, they bring not only expertise but also a lot of passion to the table. It’s small, cozy, incredibly well thought out — and the food? It completely blew us away. Highly recommended.
Two Professionals, One Dog, and a Really Good Concept
Marie and Tobi are the kind of hosts you wish everyone could be: attentive, warm, and welcoming — without seeming artificial. You can tell right away that these are people who live and breathe gastronomy. And as if that weren’t charming enough, Jack the dog is also part of the Two Alphas family. That alone earns them bonus points.
The location itself is really small — but that’s exactly what makes it so appealing. Every space seems to have been carefully chosen, every detail is just right. The color scheme of blue and pink tones gives the room a modern, playful touch without being kitschy. It feels like an evening with friends who just happen to be extremely good cooks.
Alpha Bites & Large Plates with High Standards
The concept is clearly structured yet creative: the starters are called “Alpha Bites” and come on a tiered stand — a real eye-catcher right from the start. This is followed by main courses that show how much attention to detail has gone into every single element. Everything is homemade: sauces, dressings, toppings—nothing here is off the shelf.
And now let’s get specific. This is what we had on the table:
Alpha Bites
- Beef & pork jowl skewers with beef, lado, jalapeño mayo, and parsley crunch – €13.50
- Baked beetroot with capers, dill vinaigrette, horseradish yogurt, and pea cress – €9
- Sashimi of salmon trout with ponzu, brown butter, chives, and tobiko – €14
Main Dishes
- Cordon bleu of corn-fed chicken with crusted roast, Comté cheese, truffles, green apple, and mashed potatoes – €25.50
- Salmon teriyaki with grilled romaine lettuce, yuzu, house dressing, and nut butter crunch – €21.50
Dessert
- Tira-Miso with sponge cake, chocolate mousse, mascarpone, and sweet miso – €9.50

When Food Becomes a Performance
We were allowed to watch as the dishes were prepared – and honestly, they are little works of art. Each component is placed with calm precision. Nothing is placed on the plate by chance. Even the cress has its exact place.
In terms of taste, the whole thing was the next level. The beef and pork skewer with its slight spiciness from the jalapeño mayo and the crunch on top – intense but perfectly balanced. The baked beetroot was surprisingly fresh thanks to the dill vinaigrette and horseradish yogurt, which gave the whole thing real depth.
And then there was the salmon trout sashimi. Tobi actually caught and prepared the fish himself. It couldn’t have been fresher or more authentic. Combined with ponzu and that incredibly good brown butter, it was a real statement. We were also particularly impressed by the nut butter crunch on the salmon teriyaki – nutty, slightly caramelized, with just the right texture.
The cordon bleu made from corn-fed chicken? Golden brown on the outside, juicy on the inside, the melted Comté cheese combined with truffles and slightly tart apples was a real hit. Add to that the creamy mashed potatoes — we could have eaten our fill. And the tiramisu with miso to finish played with sweetness and acidity — unusual, but really well done.
Big Show in a Small Space
Two Alphas Restaurant is one of those places where everything just fits together perfectly: the people, the atmosphere, the concept, and the cuisine. It has been thought through down to the last detail, is run with incredible warmth, and offers a level of culinary excellence that you don’t find everywhere.
And we absolutely have to mention this: Considering what you get on your plate here — precisely crafted, with high-quality products, a lot of personal effort, and genuine creativity — the prices are more than fair. Here, you get a lot of quality and attention to detail for your money. We’ll definitely be back. And you should definitely reserve a table. This little restaurant has what it takes to become one of the most exciting new spots in Hamburg in 2026.
