Hidden behind the entrance of the Westfield Center in HafenCity is a place that pulls you completely out of the everyday shopping mall routine within seconds. Instead of the usual hectic mall vibe, you’ll find a stylish restaurant filled with plants, warm colors, creative details, and a kitchen that gives Latin American cuisine a modern twist. On top of that, there are fantastic cocktails, incredibly friendly service, and dishes that truly impressed us.
Between Urban Jungle and HafenCity Vibes
The moment you step into Elemente, it’s immediately clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating the atmosphere. Dark accents meet tropical plants, elegant lighting, and modern design elements that give the restaurant a distinctive character. Despite being located right inside Westfield, the whole place feels surprisingly calm and upscale. After just a few minutes, you completely forget that the busy shopping crowds are actually right downstairs. You can even sit outside on the balcony and enjoy a relaxed view of the Elbe.
The concept revolves — fittingly to the name — around the four elements: fire, water, air, and earth. This idea runs not only through the interior design, but also through the drinks and the cuisine. The cocktails, for example, are inspired by the individual elements and bring exciting combinations into the glass. It creates a cohesive theme that gives the restaurant its own identity without ever feeling forced.
Modern Latin American Cuisine Full of Flavor
Culinarily, Elemente focuses on a modern interpretation of Latin American classics. Under the direction of head chef Miguel Zaldivar, the kitchen serves intense flavors, high-quality ingredients, and creative combinations. The menu blends different influences from across Latin America while managing to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time.
One especially nice touch: the dishes are perfect for sharing. That way, you can taste your way across the menu and constantly discover new combinations of acidity, smokiness, spice, and fresh herbs.
Our Highlights at Elemente
- Corn ribs with chili, queso añejo, and mayonnaise
- 48-hour braised beef rib with tortillas, guacamole, chili, and tomatillo salsa
- Empanadas with three different fillings:
- Chorizo & braised oxtail
- Corn & provolone
- Spinach & bell pepper
- The desserts — an absolute recommendation to finish the meal
Bold, Intense, and Simply Delicious
The corn ribs were immediately one of the highlights of the evening for us. Slightly caramelized on the outside, still wonderfully juicy on the inside, and paired with such intense seasoning — honestly unbelievably delicious. The kick of chili, the savory cheese, and the creamy sauce work perfectly together.
The braised beef rib also completely blew us away. The meat practically falls apart on its own and, together with the fresh tortillas, creamy guacamole, and fruity-fresh tomatillo salsa, becomes a dish packed with incredible depth of flavor. It’s exactly this combination of bold flavors and freshness that makes the cuisine at Elemente Hamburg so exciting.
The empanadas also showcase just how versatile the menu is. The version with chorizo and oxtail was rich and savory, but the vegetarian option with spinach and bell pepper easily held its own.
Of course, these were only some of our personal highlights of the evening. The menu has plenty more exciting dishes to offer — from fresh seafood options to creative vegetarian combinations that instantly make you want to come back and keep exploring.

Elemente manages to achieve something that isn’t easy at all: combining a stylish atmosphere, a modern concept, and genuinely outstanding food without ever feeling stiff or pretentious. Here, you get creative Latin American cuisine, great drinks, and service that makes you feel comfortable right away.
