In Short
Hamburg has a lot to offer when it comes to international cuisine. But if we’re honest, there are always those little highlights that you could almost overlook without insider knowledge. The Noodle House is just such a place. An inconspicuous restaurant that is barely noticeable on the outside, but has a real discovery for noodle lovers on the inside. We’ve been there – and we’ll definitely be back.
The Atmosphere at The Noodle House
When you enter The Noodle House, you are first greeted by an atmosphere that is anything but sumptuous. The furnishings are simple, perhaps even a little sparse, and don’t exactly invite you to linger for hours. But we think: in this case, it’s what’s on the inside that counts – and that’s the kitchen!
The highlight of the small restaurant is undoubtedly the curious machine located directly in the kitchen. It cuts the Dao-Xiao noodles, a specialty from the Chinese Shanxi province, right before your eyes and throws them into the boiling water. These shaved noodles have a very special texture – firm yet tender, with a flavor that is enhanced by the traditional preparation. If you are a fan of authentic, fresh cuisine, you will definitely get your money’s worth here.
Dishes that Make you Want More
Here is a small selection of the dishes we tried during our visit:
- Appetizer: Chicken in homemade chili oil – €7
- Appetizer: Cucumber salad – €3
- F3 Dao Xiao noodles You-Po style with braised beef, chili oil, garlic and chili – €15.50
- V5 Dao Xiao noodles You-Po style with cucumber, carrots, pak choi, corn, onions – €13.50
The selection of drinks includes classics such as Coke, Fanta and Sprite, although we would like to see a little more variety here. First things first: the starters were great. We were particularly impressed by the cucumber salad, with its pleasant spiciness and freshness.

The Taste – Simply Incomparable!
Although the small restaurant also offers “normal” noodles, the centerpiece of The Noodle House is clearly the Dao-Xiao noodles. The combination of fresh ingredients, an intense broth and the strong chili oil gives the dishes a depth that really blew us away. The normal portion is generous, but you can also choose a small portion. If you like it spicy, there are more chili oils available!
We would particularly like to highlight the you-po style dao-xiao noodles with braised beef. The meat was tender as butter and the combination of garlic, chili and noodles immediately made us want more. The vegetarian version we tried was also anything but boring – the fresh vegetables made for a varied, crunchy experience.
Conclusion: Inconspicuous, but a True Recommendation
Even if The Noodle House is easily overlooked from the outside and the interior is not an eye-catcher, its food wins us over across the board. The prices are absolutely justified for the quality and freshness of the food, and we are certain that once you’ve eaten here, you’ll be back. So, next time you’re in Hamburg looking for authentic Chinese noodles, you know where to go.
