Well Thought-out Selection of Drinks
Rialto’s extensive drinks menu offers a wide range of exquisite wines, sophisticated cocktails and homemade coffee specialties. We ordered:
- Pisco Sour – Barsol Pisco, lime, egg white, sugar, angostura (12 €)
- Blueberry Mojito – blueberry, mint, lime, sugar, ginger ale (10 €)
A delicious bread basket with two different types of bread and a cream cheese spread was served with the drinks before the meal.
Our Starters
The menu at Rialto is not necessarily large, but that doesn’t make the choice of dishes any easier. Every dish sounds fantastic, and you really want to try the whole menu. To start with, we have chosen two starters:
- Baked sheep’s cheese praline – with beetroot puree, roasted nuts and pointed cabbage salad (18 €)
- Tomato-flavoured fish soup – with saffron, pickle weed, leek, toasted bread and Spanish aioli (18 €)
Both dishes were an absolute dream and were perfect as starters due to their lightness. Interestingly, hardly any salt is added to the fish soup, as the pickle weed is naturally salty and imparts its flavor to the soup. The sheep’s cheese pralines had a full-bodied taste that harmonized perfectly with the nuts and the puree.
Culinary Experiences from a Master Hand
The main course was:
- Argentinian fillet of beef with truffle jus, pointed cabbage, potato gratin (39 €)
- Potato and herb strudel with beetroot puree, sautéed mushrooms, Riesling sauce, roasted pumpkin seeds (27 €)
Every bite offers a great combination of flavors and textures. The Argentinian fillet of beef with truffle jus was a real highlight. The tender consistency of the meat literally melted into the light truffle note, while the potato gratin rounded off the dish with its creamy texture.
The potato and herb strudel with beetroot puree was my personal favorite. The beetroot puree went really well with the sautéed mushrooms, and the strudel itself was super crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside – simply heavenly.
This Dessert is a Must
Our dessert, the white Rialto coffee parfait with clementine carpaccio and filled marzipan dates (15 €), was a great end to our evening at Rialto in Hamburg. The coffee for the parfait is the restaurant’s house coffee, made from Arabica and Robusta beans. Here, too, you quickly notice how much thought and love has gone into the dish.
We got to Meet the Chef!
Finally, we were able to meet the chef, Patrick. He told us with great passion about the dishes he prepares every day. He revealed, for example, that he doesn’t just use “normal” salt to refine his dishes. Patrick has his very own salt mixture, the recipe for which is top secret. The meat is also prepared with particular care. For example, the lamb shanks are braised on the bone for 38 hours so that it is so tender that it almost falls off the bone by itself. The chef generally pays a lot of attention to the harmony of the ingredients and puts the finishing touches to the dishes with his passion.
Can we Recommend Rialto in Hamburg?
Definitely! Due to the prices, it’s certainly not for every day, but we still think the price-performance ratio is right. Rialto is a special place that strikes the perfect balance between business lunch, casual dining and fine dining.
