The Top Seven Rooftop Bar at the Grand Elysée Hamburg is a really beautiful spot for sunny afternoons and long summer evenings. High above the city, it’s surprisingly peaceful, even though Dammtor and its busy intersection are just nearby. On top of that, you get a great view of the greenery and across Hamburg’s rooftops. The prices are on the higher side, but in return you get a special location and really relaxed rooftop vibes.
Above Hamburg, but Far from the Hustle
Top Seven Rooftop Bar is located on top of the Grand Elysée and is open when the weather is good. It opens from 4 PM, and from 6 PM onwards, larger dishes are available in addition to the smaller snacks. One thing we noticed right away: even though you’re right in the middle of Hamburg, it feels pleasantly quiet up there. The view of the park in particular almost makes you forget how close you are to Dammtor and the traffic below.
Another nice detail is the labels on the windows. They show you which churches, buildings, and well-known Hamburg landmarks you can see in the distance. So your rooftop drink also turns into a little sightseeing experience along the way.

Relaxed Atmosphere and Great Drinks
The atmosphere at Top Seven Rooftop Bar is relaxed, summery, and still a little upscale. It’s exactly the right mix for an after-work drink or a special evening with friends.
We were mainly there for the drinks and the view and ordered a few snacks to go with them. On the table, we had:
- Lav’a Belle Sprizz with lavender blossoms, herbs of Provence, and tonic water (€16)
- Sage & Pineapple with Undone Rum, lime, pineapple, and sage (€14)
- Spice Girl with grapefruit, cranberry, and ginger beer, non-alcoholic (€12)
- Velvet Sour with Lav’a Belle, Gin Sul, lemon, and vegan foamer (€17)
- Nachos with Guacamole (€11)
- Olives (€8.50)
We also got a small bowl of nuts to snack on.
From Lavender to Pineapple
We really liked the drink selection because it goes beyond the usual classics. The Lav’a Belle Sprizz is floral and slightly herbal, while the non-alcoholic Spice Girl with grapefruit, cranberry, and ginger beer is much fruitier and a little spicier. Sage & Pineapple is also an interesting non-alcoholic or very low-alcohol alternative. Pineapple and lime add freshness, while the sage gives the drink a slightly different twist.
The Nachos with Guacamole and the Olives are classic small snacks that are great for sharing and perfect for a longer evening of drinks. If you’re really hungry, it’s better to stop by after 6 PM, when a wider selection of larger dishes becomes available.
Not Cheap, but a Special Location
In terms of price, Top Seven Rooftop Bar is definitely on the higher end. €17 for a cocktail or €8.50 for a small bowl of olives is something you have to be willing to pay. In the end, it comes down to how much the location is worth to you. You’re certainly also paying for the view, the peaceful atmosphere, and the feeling of being right in the middle of Hamburg while still sitting a little removed from all the hustle and bustle.
Would we Come Again?
For us, Top Seven Rooftop Bar is a really beautiful spot, especially in summer. Good drinks, a great view, a surprising sense of peace and quiet, and a relaxed atmosphere make this rooftop terrace the kind of place where you’re happy to stay a little longer. It’s not exactly cheap, but for a special evening, a drink at sunset, or simply a few relaxed hours above the rooftops of Hamburg, we definitely think Top Seven is worth a visit.
