In Short
When you sit in Tschebull, you have the feeling of sitting in a great restaurant in the middle of Austria’s beautiful mountains. The restaurant has different areas, so you can choose whether you want to sit in the chic or casual area. The waiters and waitresses are very attentive, and the service is quite fast, even when the restaurant is fully booked. A glance at the menu will make you want to try everything.
Austrian Ambience in the Middle of Hamburg
A restaurant with many atmospheres! Tschebull is an Austrian restaurant owned by a married couple who have realized their dream of owning their own restaurant. The owner, Alexander Tschebull, is a member of “Jeunes Restaurateurs Germany”, the national section of the European Association of Young Top Chefs – and you can taste this distinction in his dishes.
When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately surprised by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff who showed us to our table. All the rooms are connected by highlights such as pictures of mountains, deer or nature in general. Not only the interior of the restaurant, but also the menu, gives you the feeling of sitting in a beautiful dining room in the middle of the Austrian mountains. To start, we ordered two glasses of the delicious rosé sparkling wine (€12) – we can only recommend it!

Special Seating Options
When you reserve a table, you have to choose which area of the restaurant you would like to sit in. In general, there are five different areas with completely different atmospheres. In this way, the restaurant captures a suitable ambience for everyone. If you want to make your evening more casual, you should book the high tables in the “Beisl” or in the lounge. The Glockenraum is elegant and simple, while the Edelweiss Raum is the gourmet area. And of course the bar, where you can watch the bartender mix juicy cocktails in the perfect proportions. We opted for Garden Tonic with Gordon’s Gin, fresh herbs, tonic water (€13.50) and a Cosmopolitan made with vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and lime juice (€13). Both were perfectly mixed and fitted in nicely with the ambience.
Authentic Austrian Starters
For starters, we ordered a salad with mushroom schnitzel (Kremser mustard, spiced pear and sesame walnuts – vegan, €15) and a Parmesan foam soup with ravioli, roasted tomatoes & red pesto (€14). Both incredibly tasty, the soup was the highlight for us. The Parmesan flavor was just right and super pleasant.
Our Delicious Main Courses
For our main course, we chose the classic Wiener schnitzel (€34) and Carinthian cheese ravioli (€29.50). The ravioli consisted of pasta pockets filled with herb quark, served with salad, truffle and brown nut butter. The presentation of the schnitzel was quite simple, but that certainly didn’t apply to the taste. WOW! The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. The ravioli was also rich in flavor, and it was the perfect portion to fill you up. My personal highlight on this plate was definitely the brown nut butter, which rounded out the dish and gave it an earthy, yet fresh flavor.
The Evening is Rounded off with a Great Austrian Dessert
Dessert was another highlight of the evening. We opted for the classic Kaiserschmarrn with stewed plums and vanilla ice cream (€14). Super soft and fluffy, simply a dream!
That’s a great way to end the evening, isn’t it? The bill was no surprise. The restaurant is quite expensive, but we think the quality of the food, drinks and service justifies the price. Tschebull is definitely worth a visit – especially for special occasions. For us, it is certainly one of the best Austrian restaurants in Hamburg.
