In Short
We visited Mayfair right on the Außenalster — stylishly located, modernly furnished, with good food, but also with little things that didn’t quite convince us. All in all: a recommendation — but with the slight caveat that it wasn’t necessarily “the one unique experience.”
Style Meets Location – a First Impression
The café is really centrally located: just a few steps from the main train station, Jungfernstieg, and right on the Außenalster. The location is ideal if you are traveling and you want to have breakfast outside the hotel or grab a bite to eat before you leave.
The interior features modern design – clean lines, light colors, and very chic. The service was friendly: we were served quickly and the staff was nice, but a smile would have made us feel more comfortable – but you can’t always have a good day.
Menu at a Glance
Among other things, we had the following food and drinks:
- Burrata Bread (pesto, burrata, feta, cherry tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and basil on sourdough bread) – €15.90
- Avo & Egg Crush (smashed avocado with tomatoes, garlic, scrambled eggs, and feta on sourdough bread with sesame seeds and sprouts) – €14.90 + extra sucuk €3.70
- Americano – €3.50
- Matcha latte with oat milk – €5.50
Taste & Presentation – What we Paid Particular Attention to
The burrata bread was the highlight for us: the bread was crispy and well toasted, the burrata soft and creamy, and the combination with the pesto and cherry tomatoes gave the whole thing freshness and flavor — a really solid piece of brunch enjoyment.
The Avo & Egg Crush, on the other hand, had a small stumbling block: the avocado contained a clearly overripe, brown, and hard piece – unfortunately inedible. However, the service responded well: we gave our feedback immediately, and as an apology, we were given small juices on the house – a nice gesture.
The matcha latte was also delicious, and we enjoyed the Americano too – nothing special, but exactly as you would expect.
Everything looks appealing: modern tableware, the food was beautifully presented – the burrata bread with splashes of color from basil and tomatoes, the avocado dish with sprouts and sesame seeds.

What we Liked – and What is Still Missing
Positive: The location is a big advantage. If you’re strolling around Hamburg and feel like having brunch, this is the place to be. The café has a modern style and a cozy atmosphere. And overall, we were liked the food — with a few minor exceptions, but these were quickly remedied.
Negative: What we find lacking is that special something that makes it stand out. There’s nothing here that automatically makes Mayfair the first choice — apart from the location and the good brunch food. In addition, the prices are on the high side — of course, location comes at a price — but that makes you wonder whether you’ll definitely come back or perhaps try another café. For a modern café in a good location, that’s okay — but not “outstanding”.
