Since the place is very popular, it is always good reserving a table, particularly on weekends. Also, the restaurant is not too big, which means that especially if you want to go there with a large group, you should book in advance.
Our First Impression
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you notice that someone has put a lot of effort into the decoration. Sweet details make the place look cozy. In addition, on the small shelves above the tables, there are little things for sale, such as postcards, teapots or sugar containers. These items are also perfectly matched to the ambience of the breakfast café. If buying the decoration is not enough for you, you can also buy a big part of the inventory since the tables and chairs also have price tags.
To get an impression of a café/restaurant in advance, it is often advantageous to look at the menu on the internet. Unfortunately, this is not quite easy for Salon Wechsel Dich. The menus that we have found on various websites are already outdated and accordingly some dishes are missing or various dishes are no longer offered.
Our Experience in the Cute Café
This time, there were five of us and of course we reserved a table in advance. At 10 o’clock the breakfast café opens its doors and punctually the small and large groups with reservations arrive at this time. On this day, the service consisted of an all-girl team. This was also the case the previous times we visited the salon. The team is very nice, but seems a bit stressed as the number of visitors increases. After a few minutes of deliberation we were able to decide on our drinks and we ordered the food later on. The waiting time for the drinks was a little long. We waited about 15 minutes. Also on our previous visits, it took quite a long time. Nevertheless, the drinks are very tasty. The tea, for example, is of high quality and aromatic.
For food, we opted for the scrambled eggs on sourdough bread, the Bircher muesli and various waffles for dessert. If you are very hungry, you can very well eat a “main course”, like the sourdough bread and a small waffle as a treat afterwards. A big plus is the possibility to select or add different ingredients. For example, I ordered the bread without cream cheese and without pesto.
Food Review – Taste, Texture and Presentation all Great?
The food actually came relatively quickly (approximately after 15 minutes). This was unlike our previous visits, often we had to wait a little longer. But waiting a little longer or not: The food tastes equally good. The bread is crispy and has a full-bodied flavor. Also the egg is fresh and neither fried too long nor too short. The avocado (if you order it for an extra charge) has no brown spots, is fresh and not too hard. With the bread, however, it must be said that it is difficult to eat with a knife and fork, because it is very crunchy and quite hard to cut. You cannot eat it with your hands either, because otherwise the all the toppings would fall off. Therefore, it is a small but surmountable challenge.
Also, the presentation of the food could still be worked on. As you can see in the pictures, the egg is not only on the bread, but also lies a bit uncharitably next to it. In addition, the plate seems very full overall and the decoration with the sesame and the balsamic seems rather quickly thrown on it than sprinkled over it with love. For the Bircher Muesli, there is nothing to complain about, the fruits are fresh and super matched.
What about the Waffles?
Delicious – a perfect ending to a good breakfast. The waffles are really great! We especially loved the flavorful dough and its consistency. They are baked to perfection, not too long and not too little so that they still stay a bit soft inside. There is also the option of having dark chocolate or Kinder chocolate baked into the batter – a treat! The waffles are offered in a heart shape or round, accordingly it is smaller or larger. A highlight is definitely the variety of the waffles. From savory to sweet and vegan, everyone can find a waffle of their liking. In addition, the waffles are baked with organic eggs.
