The journey to Strandperle is an experience in itself. Simply start at the Landungsbrücken and take ferry 62 from bridge 3. After a short but picturesque ride, you get off at Neumühlen/Övelgönne and find yourself directly on the beautiful Elbe beach in Altona. A short walk along the beach takes you directly to Strandperle – sand under your feet and the Elbe always in view. There’s no better way to start the day!
Maritime Ambience meets Hanseatic Coziness
Strandperle itself is a spacious restaurant with numerous tables spread out directly on the beach. Whether you prefer to sit in the sun or in the shade of the large parasols, there is a place for everyone here. The panorama is simply breathtaking: the glistening waters of the Elbe in front of you and the imposing ships in the harbor behind you. This combination of beach feeling and harbor atmosphere is unparalleled in Hamburg.
The best thing about it? You can easily place your order by cell phone or order in the traditional way from the friendly service staff. We were warmly served and didn’t have to wait long for our food and drinks.
Tip: The best time to come is during the week, when it opens at 10:00 am. Then it is still pleasantly quiet, and you can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere to the full. When the weather is nice, however, Strandperle fills up quickly, so plan ahead accordingly.

After so much fresh air, our stomachs were growling, and we couldn’t resist the tempting menu. Here’s what we ordered:

Taste Explosions in the Open Air
Let’s start with the overnight oats: they were deliciously creamy and served with a generous portion of fresh berries. The homemade granola added a nice crunch, while the agave syrup provided the perfect sweetness. A real energy booster to start the day!
The captain’s breakfast was great with its fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, which had just the right amount of smokiness. The wholemeal bread was a little dry, but it was fine. Overall, a solid choice for those who like savory.
The sweet treats like the pastel de nata and croissant were fresh and buttery, just the way we like it.
We had mixed experiences with the drinks. The Aperol Spritz was excellently mixed and just the thing for a sunny morning on the beach. The Prosecco, on the other hand, was unfortunately a little warm, which detracted from the enjoyment. For the price, we would have liked a little more freshness here. The iced latte rounded off our breakfast perfectly with its strong coffee aroma and pleasant coolness.
