In Short
Wallter’s, an elegant restaurant in Hamburg that offers an impressive ambience and great service. You can even save a little with their lunch offer. The location is great and the ambience, including the view of the water, is unique. For us, Wallter’s is a great recommendation for special occasions!
Exquisite Cuisine in an Ambience
Wallter’s in Hamburg impresses with its elegant ambience and attentive service. The two-storey restaurant with the bar on the first floor and the kitchen upstairs offers a great atmosphere. The large windows give a wonderful view of the waters of the “kleine Alster”. Everything is beautifully furnished, and the large menus are available directly on the tables.

Lunch at its Best
The lunch menu at Wallter’s is a real treat. At a price of 23 € for vegetarian dishes and 25 € for meat dishes, both including soup of the day, it offers great value for money. There is plenty of choice and the dishes are generally of high quality. We opted for the following drinks and dishes that day:
- Homemade lemonade (6.50 €)
- Jörg Geiger Cuvée non-alcoholic (5.50 €)
- Soup of the day with potato, celeriac and bacon foam
- Chicken schnitzel in panko breading with mushroom cream and fried potatoes (25 € incl. soup of the day)
- Steak frites – 200 g roast beef, chips and Café de Paris sauce (29 €)
Delight in Every Bite
The culinary experience at Wallter’s is consistently impressive. The soup of the day with potato, celeriac and bacon foam was my personal highlight. So creamy and light at the same time – for me, one of the best soups I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
The two main courses also looked great. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was great. There was hardly anything to complain about with the chicken schnitzel, the portion size was perfect. In addition, the deliciously prepared mushrooms to accompany the chicken schnitzel were fresh and full of flavor. There was only one small criticism of the chicken schnitzel and the steak frites, the seasoning of which could have used a little more zing, but the salt and pepper provided on the tables made up for it.
Recommended for Special Occasions
Finally, we treated ourselves to the homemade cheesecake with dulce de leche (8 €). This was also delicious! The topping with exotic fruits went perfectly with the cheesecake. You can also definitely taste that it’s homemade.
Although a little more expensive, Wallter’s is definitely a place for special occasions. The lunch deal is not to be missed. We recommend booking in advance, as the restaurant is also very busy at lunchtime. The overall experience, from the ambience to the service to the food and drinks, makes this restaurant absolutely recommendable for us and we will not have been there for the last time.
